Sirui Yang | Aura i Nature
02.10.2024—02.11.2024

Opening launch: Wednesday 2 October 6–8PM

Aura i Nature shows deep-seated connections between humanity and the natural world. It explores how the organic forms and patterns found in nature reflect the relationship between humans and the environment, the aura/authenticity and complexity of life. Through the manipulation of light, colour, and a variety of techniques, the artist captures and conveys her personal sense of vitality and energy in nature. With biomorphic shapes that resemble living creatures, the works blur the line between the organic and the artificial, encouraging viewers to contemplate the interconnectedness of all life forms.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sirui Yang was born in Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties of China. A self-proclaimed Martian who has officially left the "planet", she is currently based in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia.

Sirui is a multi-disciplinary artist whose practice combines painting, digital illustration, drawing, photography and installation art. Through the gradual exploration of her artistic process Sirui discovered that innocence (natural essence) and the profound (complexity) form a complementary synergy within her practice. This equilibrium can be seen mirrored throughout the contemporary world, especially through the collision of human civilisation and nature. It is these connected ‘eternity’ links that inspire Sirui to portray the ever-changing environment around us.

Sirui has a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Arts) from RMIT University and is currently stuyding a Masters of Arts and Cultural Management at the University of Melbourne.
